Eye Health

See the doctor every year!

Why are annual eye exams recommended?

  • Detect eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma.
  • Help to detect diabetes and high blood pressure.

At Sears Optical, our goal is to provide you and your family with the ideal eye care experience, beginning with an eye exam. To arrange an eye exam stop by or contact your local Sears Optical location.*

Few things in life are as important as your eyesight. So when it comes to eye care, it's important to be proactive.

Visit a doctor yearly. Periodic eye exams will help you maintain the best possible vision and detect eye abnormalities and diseases before they become serious.

At Sears Optical, affiliated ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians work in close partnership with you for optimum results.

A doctor of optometry will perform a comprehensive eye exam and visual acuity test, meeting current industry standards and using the latest equipment. They will check the overall health of your eyes, looking for eye diseases like cataracts and glaucoma. An eye examination can also reveal other health problems, including diabetes or high blood pressure.

Then the results of your test will be explained to you. If you require corrective lenses, a prescription will be provided.

Whether you choose eyeglasses or contact lenses, you'll find that Sears Optical is your partner in finding the best eyewear solutions for you and your family.

For children, doctors recommend general eye exams by a pediatrician or family doctor at birth, as well as exams at six months and three years.  If all is well and no problems are detected, the next appointment should be made when the child is ready to enter kindergarten. A routine eye exam for children consists of tests for near and distance vision; peripheral vision; eye/hand coordination; the ability to use both eyes together; and the ability of the eyes to move smoothly across a page and shift quickly and accurately from one object to another - all critical for a child learning to read.
